Japanese Sumi-e Note Cards
Sumi-e is a graceful, contemplative form of Asian ink painting practiced for more than a 1,000 years. It often conveys the essence or spirit of a scene in the fewest number of strokes. We have transfromed some of artist Rick Black’s original sumi-e paintings into sumi-e note cards for you.
Rick works in the traditional format, painting only in black ink on various types of Japanese paper. He uses a specially hand-carved seal called a chop to sign and stamp his name in red.
You can choose from five sumi-e cards, including Bamboo, Bird on Bamboo, Iris, Wild Orchid and Butterfly. Send tranquility to a relative or friend with one of our sumi-e note cards, thus creating a feeling of relaxation and ease. These cards are also available at the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center gift shop in Hyattsville, MD.
