INTERNSHIPs
Whether you’ve just got some free time or are a student who has a passion for books, art or poetry, Turtle Light Press has two internship opportunities available. It’s not necessary to live near our Arlington offices in order to work together; those who do live nearby have the option of coming once or twice a week to our offices.
As an intern, you will obtain hands-on experience and have a chance to make a real contribution to the press, acquire/sharpen skills and perform real jobs, not make coffee or do filing. You will learn about design, media relations and many other aspects of publishing. Lastly, these unpaid internships might result in paid part-time jobs over the summer.
1. Art/Graphic Design Internship: Use your skills to redesign some pages of our website and/or build a new one for a nature photo-oriented site, help design limited edition books, and possibly do some e-book designing. The amount of time per week is flexible but ranges from 2 – 4 hours.
2. Marketing Internship: Write press releases, do market research for books, prints and cards, consult about overall marketing strategy for the press and possibly handle some social media – i.e., Facebook, Twitter, etc. The amount of time per week is flexible but ranges from 2 – 4 hours.
Send resume and letter about why you’d be good for this internship.
Art Internship Requirements: Reliable, smart, meticulous, knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), WordPress and social media (Facebook/Twitter) etc.
Marketing Internship Requirements: Reliable, smart, meticulous, knowledge of Microsoft Word and it would be helpful but not required to know Microsoft Excel, too.
