A year in the making, we are finally unrolling our new website with lots of exciting projects as well as old favorites. Stay tuned as we gradually fine-tune the site and get this blog rolling.
Our first task is to come up with a name for the blog. Anybody got any ideas? One thought of mine is, “Diary of a Small Press.” I would like to use the blog in part to detail some of the ups and downs of what it’s like to run a small press on a daily basis.
What would you like to see incorporated in the blog? A haiku, a featured note card, comments on the evolving nature of books, or maybe some favorite sites about turtles…we do love turtles, especially as they are a metaphor for us and how we need to slow down rather than speed up in order to savor and become more aware of each moment.
Speaking of awareness, my brother, Bruce Black, is just coming out with a new book, “Writing Yoga,” that is being published by Rodmell Press (www.rodmellpress.com). It’s about the way in which writing a journal, like yoga, can help you find a balance in this hectic world of ours, help you find your own unique voice so that you can sort through the myriad concerns of life and focus on what’s truly important to you.
Looking forward to being in touch!
Rick

Thanks, Ellen — will think them over and let you know.
I just stopped by to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed “All That Remains.” There is a taste of Maine about the book that’s real. My family comes from Maine and the land itself is one with the people. Catherine J. S. Lee haiku convey so perfectly the lives, so perfectly in fact that many of her haiku brought images of my own ancestors. This is a book I will certainly treasure. Yet even more than the personal value of this book for me is the genius she manifests in her use of haiku to transport you to each of these moments of human history… alive again … you can touch and feel the soil on hands planting tulips.
In response to the name of the blog… how about “Pressing Matters”.
Thanks for the share!

Hi Rocky, More than a little late replying to you, just got completely caught up in our move to Virginia but thanks so much for your suggested of a name for the blog. We’ll probably still with what we have for now but will definitely keep it in mind.
Our pleasure!
Hi Merrill,
I am kind of new to all this and got distracted by a million things, but thanks so much for your post here. So glad you appreciated the book! I hope to be getting to work more regularly now that we’ve more or less completed our move. Look forward to being in touch.
