Sumi-e Prints

Imagine when you come home from a long day of work at the office, get a drink and sit down in your living room or den to relax — and that’s when you look up at a painting of a bird or bamboo that puts you at ease and transports you to another place. It is a way to restore your sense of calm and tranquility.

Artist Rick Black works in the traditional Japanese format of only using black ink on various types of Japanese paper. He uses a specially hand-carved seal called a chop to sign and stamp his name in red. We offer a variety of framed and unframed sumi-e prints, including bamboo, panda, iris, bird on bamboo and wild orchid.

All of our prints are made on an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Gicleé printer using the finest archival, fade-resistant pigment inks and acid free papers that have been tested to last for at least 100 years, depending upon framing and exhibition conditions. These unlimited editions are printed on acid free, heavyweight 100 lb. Strathmore Bristol.

All prints are framed in a float frame with brown or black wood and clear glass in the center. Please take a look at the panda on our home page — one of the four changing images — to see a sample.
