Highland Park, N.J.
As Truman Capote has remarked, “Fame is only good for one thing – they will cash your check in a small town.”
Located along the Raritan River in central New Jersey, Highland Park is a typical American small town. It is only one square mile with a traditional main street, so people often see friends and neighbors in the post office or at the farmer’s market. Rick Black and Bill Bonner have taken hundreds of images and turned them into paintings.
The five images that TLP is offering as note cards right now include an old ice-cream parlor, the dough boy memorial, the high school, the farmer’s market and a train trestle by a pond.
