In this interview on American haiku pioneer Nick Virgilio,  Kwame Dawes discusses what makes Virgilio’s work so memorable. He compares and contrasts Virgilio’s poetic oeuvre with that of Walt Whitman. He also touches on haiku itself as an art form and its place in the American poetry tradition.
