Emma Cortellessa, Summer Intern for 2019

A senior this fall at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, Emma is an aspiring illustrator and designer. She hopes to pursue a career in book design and children’s illustration. She believes that picture books are what inspired her passion for art and writing at an early age.

From Norristown, Pennsylvania, Emma is working towards her B.F.A. in Illustration. Drawn to Moore College’s incredible faculty and small student population, Emma has served on the publishing committee for student government, works as a peer tutor, and proudly represents her school as a student ambassador.

“I like the personable aspect of small presses like TLP where you get to know everyone and work directly with them,” she said. “I am already working on an e-book design and doing research for a blog post on haiga, a form that combines haiku and visual imagery.”

In 2016, Emma earned a spot in the Visionary Women’s Honors Program, where she began to rediscover her love for literature. During her summer internship with TLP, Emma will be working on the design of trade and e-books, writing blog posts and doing social media.
