About Us
Our company, Turtle Light Press, was founded by Rick Black, a former reporter in the Jerusalem bureau of The New York Times, in 2005. By chance, he discovered the art of beautifully crafted, handmade books one day at the Center for Book Arts in New York City. As he browsed informally at the center’s Vandercook proof printers and book presses, he suddenly realized that he could learn how to make handmade books himself, thus combining his love of words and images with a longtime desire to work with his hands.
The Finest In Handbound Books
What began as a love affair of handbound books has now turned into a successful artistic venture, creating memorable images in the form of books, note cards, artwork, limited edition books and digital portraits. At Turtle Light Press, we take our time and use the very best materials to create custom, unique pieces that you will treasure for a lifetime.
It is always our first priority to combine the aesthetically appealing with the best in handmade craftsmanship to produce the finest in high quality handbound books and art pieces. These unique fine art pieces are for both individuals and businesses to enjoy. In fact, businesses and non-profits often use these artistic portraits to enhance their public image and promote themselves in a variety of ways.
