PEACE AND WAR:
A COLLECTION OF HAIKU FROM ISRAEL

By Rick Black

This miniature version of Peace and War's limited edition contains 32 poems (one per page) and measures 3 1/2" x 4 1/2". Its binding is an innovative dos-a-dos (back-to-back) style, with the "Peace" poems on one side and the "War" poems on the other. In each of these short, imagistic poems, however, both peace and war are juxtaposed in ways that portray the heart-wrenching beauty and sorrow of this conflict-ridden land.

"I recommend that you read these haiku slowly, very slowly, pausing, returning to the beginning again and again and remaking your path to the end. I assure you that you will find grace notes here that will last for a long time."
